On Oct. 10, Munger, Tolles & Olson attorneys Mark H. Kim and Mary Ann Todd were named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in L.A. Law.” The publication’s special report highlighted 40 Los Angeles attorneys who pulled off the year's biggest mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Kim’s recent representation of Air Lease Corporation in its initial $2.8 billion capital raise and its subsequent $923 million initial public offering helped earn him a spot on the list. The Los Angeles Business Journal also highlighted his “Best Career Moment,” which Mr. Kim recollected as negotiating the $775 million acquisition of Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in less than a week.
Ms. Todd was honored for her representation of Berkshire Hathaway in a number of significant transactions, as well as her representation of other clients such as 99¢ Only Stores in major matters. The publication recognized Ms. Todd for assisting Berkshire Hathaway in the acquisition of Lubrizol Corp., a specialty chemical maker, while simultaneously representing 99¢ Only Stores when it received a going private proposal. Ms. Todd’s role in Berkshire’s $34 billion acquisition of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Co. and its $5 billion investment in Bank of America were also referenced in the article.
Mr. Kim is a corporate partner in the Los Angeles office of Munger Tolles. He practices corporate, business and securities law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, public equity offerings, joint ventures and corporate governance.
Ms. Todd is also a corporate partner in the Los Angeles office. Her focus is on mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. Ms. Todd’s practice also includes counseling clients with respect to corporate governance and securities law compliance.
