On September 26, 2008, Munger, Tolles & Olson lawyers Hailyn Chen, Brian Duff, Jeffrey Heintz and Fred Rowley garnered top honors in the annual YMCA "Stair Climb to the Top," a fundraiser held by the Ketchum-Downtown YMCA in Los Angeles.
Runners climb the US Bank Tower, the tallest office building west of the Mississippi which stands at 1,108 feet and challenges runners with 1500 steps up 75 floors. This year, Munger Tolles turned in the fastest time of all teams (including all-male teams) and won the coed division. Munger Tolles easily won the law firm division.
Elite climbers make it to the top in 13 minutes or less. Mr. Duff, the team captain, was 2nd overall with a time of 11:01; Mr. Heintz placed 8th overall at 12:02; Mr. Rowley came in at 13:35; while Ms. Chen turned in a time of 15:49 which was good for the 12th fastest female time.
Mr. Duff, a corporate associate in the Los Angeles office quipped, “The annual stair climb to the top is a great event that we look forward to doing year after year. Hopefully next year brings similar success, and additional MTO teams to the event.”
The annual event promotes healthy lifestyles and raises funds that help the YMCA build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
