Daniel Y. Benyamin

Daniel Benyamin is a real estate attorney in the Los Angeles office of Munger, Tolles & Olson.

Mr. Benyamin’s real estate transactional practice includes representation of a wide range of institutional and non-institutional clients in all areas of real estate, including acquisition, disposition, financing and leasing, across a variety of property types and classes, including raw land, retail, office, multi-family and mixed-use projects. His experience includes conducting extensive due diligence, drafting transactional documents, negotiating complex commercial real estate transactions, leading transaction logistics and coordinating the closing process.

Prior to joining the firm and while attending law school, Mr. Benyamin served as a summer law clerk in the white collar crimes division of the Los Angeles County District Attorney where he assisted in witness and trial preparation. Before attending law school, Mr. Benyamin was a commercial real estate valuation associate with Anderson Tax where he inspected, valued and prepared real estate appraisal reports with respect to a variety of commercial assets.

Mr. Benyamin earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law. Prior to law school, he graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business earning a B.S. with an emphasis on real estate finance and entrepreneurship and a minor in Policy, Planning and Development focusing on city planning and real estate development.

Representative Transactions 

  • CIM Group in originating multiple complex real estate loans, including construction loans for condominium developments in the Los Angeles area and Alexandria, Virginia and bridge loans for mixed-use projects in Atlanta, Georgia and Orlando, Florida.
  • Caruso in various financing transactions, including its construction financing with respect to the Palisades Village, a large shopping, dining and entertainment complex in Pacific Palisades, California, and Rosewood Miramar Beach Resort, a 161-room luxury resort in Montecito, California.
  • GI Partners in data center and unique office leasing transactions, including the lease of a life science and office building in Waltham, Massachusetts.
  • Stockdale Capital Partners in multiple engagements, including its acquisition and financing of the Horton Plaza shopping center in San Diego, California and financing of Scottsdale’s Galleria Corporate Centre in Scottsdale, Arizona.
  • CCA Acquisition Company and affiliates, a privately-held shopping center developer, in connection with the acquisition, development, financing and leasing of a portfolio of retail assets in several western states, including the acquisition and financing of the Shops At Fort Union, a 690,000 square foot shopping center in Midvale, Utah.
  • Variety of pro bono engagements, including representing schools and nonprofit organizations in acquisition, financing and leasing transactions, including representation of a non-profit organization in connection with obtaining tax-exempt bond financing for the acquisition of a school campus.
