JOB SUMMARY

The Pricing and Analytics Manager provides financial consulting to senior partners and management, including formulating pricing strategies and managing legal spend against client expectations in partnership with attorneys. The Pricing and Analytics Manager creates budgets and forecasts as well as responds to competitive requests for proposals.  In addition, the Pricing and Analytics Manager develops pricing tools and templates which utilize technology to streamline certain functions. The Pricing and Analytics Manager possesses an intimate understanding of reporting and databases essential for success. The Pricing and Analytics Manager serves as a key asset in the future growth of the Firm.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Consult with attorneys to respond to complex budget and pricing requests.

    • Define scope and develop task based budgets and forecasts.

    • Structure and evaluate alternate pricing proposals, and prepare risk and reward analyses.

    • Manage all matter budget and case updates for large clients and interact directly with clients and vendors.

    • Negotiate and define workflow processes with clients and vendors.

  • Provide attorneys and other department heads with relevant data to help them manage client expectations on legal spend and with business development efforts.

    • Create, optimize, and publish budget to actual reports and dashboards.

    • Provide customized modeling, performance and benchmarking analyses and ad-hoc reports.

  • Define a pricing framework for multiple litigation tasks or phases (analytics).

    • Define approach, analyze and interpret comparable matter data, and correct for anomalies.

    • Test hypotheses, refine metrics, and increase the number of exemplars for future use.

    • Determine causes of data quality problems and recommend improvements.

  • Lead technology initiatives to automate our budgeting and analytics processes and expand our competitive intelligence capabilities.

    • Lead administrator for technology solutions with responsibility to optimize utilization and processes.

    • Implement software solutions and liaise with IT and vendors.

    • Develop and create custom reports.

  • Directly manage staff, including performance management, workforce planning and day-to-day operations.

    • Delegate and prioritize incoming requests and balance team workload.

    • Mentor and develop team.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • 6+ years of financial planning and analysis (FP&A) experience or related experience involving data analysis and substantial quantitative modeling and forecasting.

  • Prior managerial experience a must with a demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in hands-on management capacity.

  • Experience implementing a financial or budgeting system a must.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients including attorneys, management, firm clients, and vendors.

  • Excellent customer service skills that allow you to effectively manage expectations and build relationships.

  • The ability to challenge current ideas, methods and processes, proposing alternatives in a way that creates trust and builds consultative relationships.

  • The ability to prioritize team assignments while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Prior law firm experience is helpful, but not required.
