Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP attorneys O’Malley M. Miller and Misty M. Sanford were named among “California’s Top 50 Development Lawyers” by the Daily Journal. In a report published Aug. 13, 2014, Mr. Miller and Ms. Sanford were recognized as “top attorneys whose work in the development arena significantly impacted projects that are helping to shape the transformation of cities.”
The publication recognized Mr. Miller for his work on several complex real estate ventures. The report highlighted his representations of Simon Property Group in a $1 billion deal involving the renovation and operation of two major shopping malls in Mission Viejo, California and Chicago, and Hines Global REIT in the purchase of the West Los Angeles office complex, The Campus at Playa Vista.
Ms. Sanford was acknowledged for her representation of the Los Angeles River Revitalization Corporation in its efforts to encourage private industrial development in that region. The Daily Journal cited the complexity of the matter, which involves negotiating the acquisition of a 42-acre parcel of Union Pacific’s Taylor Yard facility along the Los Angeles River, and credits Ms. Sanford with “bringing the city to the table” in the transaction.
Mr. Miller maintains a sophisticated transactional practice, including finance, land use and development matters with expertise in matters relating to workouts and debt restructurings.
Ms. Sanford’s practice focuses on real estate and land use law. She represents institutional investors, developers, multi-national corporations, nonprofits, public entities and individual entrepreneurs in various transactions.
Both attorneys are based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
