Motion Picture & Television Fund, UCLA Partner to Bring Additional Health Care Services to Entertainment Industry

Munger, Tolles & Olson represented the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF), a charitable organization dedicated to providing assistance to members of the entertainment industry, in a partnership with the UCLA Health System designed to integrate MPTF’s six outpatient health centers into the UCLA system. The transaction will enable the parties to continue to provide primary health care to 60,000 industry members and their families through  health centers and Health Wheels, a mobile health van. Originally announced in October 2013, the integration of the institutions is now complete, according to UCLA’s June 2, 2014 announcement.

Through this alliance, members of the entertainment industry have access to UCLA’s specialty care and inpatient services in addition to the outpatient care they receive at MPTF’s facilities. The partnership strengthens the relationship between the two organizations, which are already working together on a geriatric psychiatry unit at MPTF’s Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills. The new outpatient health system will be co-branded by MPTF and the UCLA Health System.

The Munger Tolles team involved in the transaction was led by Maria Seferian and included Jesse Max Creed. Misty M. Sanford advised on the real estate aspects of the transaction, and Samuel T. Greenberg provided tax counsel.
