Paul Watford Sworn In as 9th Circuit Judge

Paul J. Watford was sworn in June 1 as a circuit judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

Chief Judge Alex Kozinski of the 9th Circuit performed the ceremony. Speakers included Munger, Tolles & Olson attorneys Ronald L. Olson and Daniel P. Collins. The ceremony was held in the Los Angeles office of Munger Tolles. The event was well attended by Munger Tolles attorneys and staff, as well as many outside visitors, including Judge Watford’s family and friends and leaders from the legal community.

Mr. Watford was confirmed to the 9th Circuit on May 21 in a 61-34 vote in the U.S. Senate after being nominated by President Obama in October 2011.

Mr. Watford was a litigation partner in the Los Angeles office of Munger Tolles. His practice focused primarily on appellate litigation in state and federal courts. He handled appeals involving legal issues in most major areas of the law, including administrative, antitrust, business torts, constitutional, environmental, insurance, intellectual property, land use, products liability, professional liability and securities.
