Berkshire Hathaway Agrees to Purchase of Oriental Trading

Berkshire Hathaway announced Nov. 2 that it plans to acquire mail-order toy and novelty vendor Oriental Trading Co. A team of Munger, Tolles & Olson lawyers represented Berkshire in the transaction.

Oriental Trading is the nation’s largest direct merchant of value–priced party supplies, arts and crafts, toys and novelties, and a leading provider of school supplies and affordable home décor and giftware. The proposed acquisition comes just ahead of the holiday gift-giving season, when Oriental Trading is primed for a business boon due to its slew of low-priced Hanukkah and Christmas products, according to Law360.

Munger Tolles regularly represents Berkshire Hathaway, which is also based in Omaha, Neb., in its corporate transactions.

Mary Ann Todd led the Munger Tolles team who worked on this matter. The team also included Patrick Anderson, Williana Chang, Renée Delphin-Rodriguez, Stephen Rose and John Senior.
