Munger Tolles Automated Litigation Support Specialists Recognized by Law Technology News

Munger, Tolles & Olson Automated Litigation Support Specialists Shannon Bales and Sandra Baker were part of the trial team recognized by Law Technology News (LTN) at the 7th Annual Law Technology News Awards for their work in supporting the technological framework of the United Nation’s Extraordinary Chambers of the Courts of Cambodia.  The publication honored the team with the “Most Innovative Use of Technology During a Trial” award for their assistance to the tribunal trying members of the Khmer Rouge for war crimes committed during the 1975-1979 “reign of terror” in that region.  The team provided state of the art courtroom technology to a remote area, including web streaming, 15 miles of fiber optic cable and screens to noise-proof the courtroom room from monsoon rains.  Because of their involvement, along with the efforts of many other technologists, lawyers and other volunteers, the Tribunal has made significant progress in bringing the Khmer Rouge to justice.  Mr. Bales accepted the award along with Cambodian Ambassador to the United Nations, Sea Kosal.
