NCLR Salutes Munger Tolles Prop. 8 Team for its Dedication to Equal Rights

During its recent anniversary celebration, the National Center for Lesbian Rights presented Munger, Tolles & Olson’s Proposition 8 team with an award recognizing the lawyers’ “unwavering dedication to LGBT justice.”  Munger Tolles represented several gay and lesbian couples and Equality California in their California Supreme Court petition challenging the constitutionality of Proposition 8, the voter initiative that sought to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. Though the Court upheld Proposition 8, it also unanimously ruled that the more than 18,000 marriages that took place between June 16 and November 4, 2008 continue to be fully valid and recognized by the state of California.

Munger Tolles' Proposition 8 team included Gregory D. Phillips, Jay M. Fujitani, David C. Dinielli, Michelle T. Friedland, Lika C. Miyake, and Mark R. Conrad.
