Munger TollesĀ Hosts of Reception for the ABA Judicial Intern Opportunity Program

Munger, Tolles & Olson hosted an orientation program, a series of panel discussions, and a welcome reception for the newest members of the Judicial Intern Opportunity Program (JIOP) on June 4, 2009 at the United States Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. The JIOP, sponsored by the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association, provides minority and financially disadvantaged first- and second-year law school students the opportunity to spend a summer working for state and federal judges from around the country by matching the students with judges and providing the students with a monetary award.

Munger Tolles attorneys Lisa Demsky, Kimberly Encinas and Marina Torres spoke at the reception. Ms. Demsky, who helped organize this year's program in Los Angeles, gave opening remarks and provided background on the Program. Ms. Encinas participated in a panel on diversity recruitment at law large firms, and Ms. Torres participated in a panel entitled “The Life of An Extern or Law Clerk And Beyond.” Other speakers at the orientation included Hon. Robert Kwan, Hon. Consuelo Marshall, Hon. Richard Paez, and Hon. Fumiko Wasserman. The firm has been a sponsor of the program for several years and has hosted the reception in the past, and was proud to host the event this year.
