On September 18, 2008, Munger, Tolles & Olson partner Katherine M. Forster was installed as president of the Women Lawyer’s Association of Los Angeles (WLALA) in a ceremony at the Omni Los Angeles hotel.
Los Angeles Daily Journal reporter Amanda Becker caught up with Ms. Forster to discuss her vision and plans for the association in the coming year. In a September 18, 2008 Daily Journal article Ms. Forster describes her rise through the ranks of the WLALA, first as a summer associate, and now as a partner at Munger Tolles.
Plans for her tenure as president of WLALA include improving the retention and advancement of women in the legal profession through a summit with law firm management, to be held in November. “We’re not going to advocate that there is one way to get this done,” Forster tells the Daily Journal. “The whole point of the summit is that you need to find out what works with your law firm’s culture.”
Ms. Forster is a partner in the labor and employment department at Munger Tolles. She represents employers in a wide range of matters including class actions, wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment litigation and appellate matters.
