Silent Auction Provides Financial Support for Local Families and Books for a School Library In Africa

Munger, Tolles & Olson's annual Holiday Silent Auction, held in December 2007 for attorneys and staff, generated over $5000 for two charities assisting poor families here and abroad.

World Vision is dedicated to helping children and communities worldwide by tackling the causes of poverty. Through this global charity, the firm was able to acquire enough books to fill a school library at a school in Huambo, Angola, a treat for the hundreds of students who have never held a new book. The shipment of books just arrived in Huambo.

One Voice, a local charity, helps people at poverty level within our community. Our contribution provided one month’s rent and extra spending money to three Los Angeles families during the holidays who could not afford to celebrate the holiday season.

Kim McKay, Director of Case Support Services, is the inspiration behind Munger Tolles' annual Holiday Silent Auction. Ms. McKay was “astounded by the miraculous results of our modest holiday auction.” The Holiday Auction is held every December at the Los Angeles office of Munger Tolles to raise funds for those in need.
