Jonathan H. Blavin

JONATHAN BLAVIN is a litigation associate in the San Francisco office of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP.

Mr. Blavin has a wide-ranging practice in federal and state court at the trial and appellate levels.  He has experience in complex commercial litigation, high-technology disputes brought under the Copyright and the Digital Millennium Copyright Acts, consumer class actions in the wireless and telecommunications areas, federal antitrust actions, and constitutional matters.  Mr. Blavin also has an active pro bono practice, and has recently represented clients in actions alleging police brutality and inadequate medical care brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.

Mr. Blavin serves as a Panel Attorney for the California Lawyers for the Arts and is a member of the Conference for California Public Utility Counsel (CCPUC), the San Francisco Bay Area Intellectual Property American Inn of Court, and the Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society.  Mr. Blavin's recent speaking engagements include A Discussion of Primary Jurisdiction and PUC Code Section 1759 at the 2009 CCPUC Annual Meeting.

Prior to joining the firm in 2004, Mr. Blavin served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard R. Clifton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  Mr. Blavin received his J.D.  magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2003.  While at Harvard, he served as a Primary Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Mr. Blavin received his B.A. in history with highest distinction from the University of Michigan, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa.
